Creative Writing for Leisure

Level X
Cheltenham

Course Overview

Part Time
Certificate

Everyone has a story to tell, what matters is being able to share it! Explore ideas, experiment with words and language, and discover the joy of bringing characters, places, and stories to life in a relaxed and supportive setting.

Perfect for adults who want to develop their writing for leisure, whether you're just starting out or returning to a long-held passion. Do you currently between busy days, in quiet evenings, or whenever inspiration strikes. This course welcomes you to explore storytelling and poetry in a relaxed setting, helping you turn ideas into writing you can be proud of.

Enjoy the process, connect with others, and take time to write for yourself in our evening course.

What you’ll learn

You’ll get to grips with the foundations of creative writing, focusing on prose such as short stories, while also having opportunities to try poetry and other experimental formats. Learn how to develop ideas into finish projects, build engaging characters and creative vivid settings through exercises designed to expand your mind and your words.

You’ll also be encouraged to share your work (if you feel comfortable) and take part in group discussions, helping you develop confidence in both giving and receiving feedback and praise. The course will also support you in building a personal portfolio and discovering your own writing style, with guidance from your tutor.

Previous learners have gone on to share their pieces at events and have even gone on to submit to competitions or publishers!
