Mechanical Engineering Diploma (Craft Route)
This course will give you an insight into a range of topics and disciplines and equip you with the basic skills and knowledge required. The engineering sector is vast and diverse and with this qualification who knows where it may take you?
Our starting point for your career in Engineering is the Level 2 Diploma which is accredited by City & Guilds. It is nationally and internationally recognised by employers and engineering companies.
During your one year full time diploma you will gain a range of practical skills such as milling, turning, grinding and health and safety regulations in our large purpose-built, industry standard engineering workshops. You will learn about basic hand tools, mills, lathes and drills.
You will study units such as: - Working in Engineering, Principles of Engineering Technology, Principles of Manufacturing Technology, Machining Components Using Milling Techniques, Machining Components Using Turning Techniques and Using Bench Fitting Techniques.
You will be assessed on your practical ability and by means of short written answer tests some of which are multiple choice.
You'll love learning from experienced tutors, and meeting employers from around the county with a view to recruiting you in their companies.
Future career opportunities include: Assembly and machine operator, maintenance fitter, mechanical engineer.
Gloucestershire College welcome any other/combinations of relevant qualifications that are comparable and/or equivalent to the typical course entry requirements.
For 19+ applicants that do not have recognised qualifications may still meet course entry requirements through alternative methods of assessment at the College’s discretion.
