Participation in our arts and craft classes provides far more than the opportunity to learn new skills but also numerous benefits to our mental health and wellbeing.

Classes are known to lower stress levels, improve confidence, increase social integration, contribute to personal growth and lifelong learning to name just a few advantages.

Activities can provide outlets for expressing emotions and feelings in a non-pressured relaxed environment. This course will encourage and nurture creativity through engagement in a series of activities with a particular focus on the process being more important that the outcome.

Activities include:

  • Using a selection of natural materials, leaves, grasses, flowers etc: Mono print, gel print and image transfer onto paper or fabric.
  • Using natural materials, study in macro detail documenting aspects of them: This may be the shapes, colours, textures etc
  • Select one natural element and abstract it: For example, the veins of a leaf painted across a page, or cut a stencil of a fir cone and continually print this in multiple colours. Creating and building unique designs.

 

  • This course is aimed at those who are aged 19 and over (as at 31st August of the academic year you are applying for) who are looking to improve their wellbeing so they can move into work or progress into more sustainable employment.

    In some circumstances you may be able to access this course for free.
