Are you interested in developing secure software? Debugging and recovering broken code? With this course you’ll learn to solve real-world digital challenges, like optimising applications for better performance, providing solutions for software challenges, and understanding the legal implications of the digital sector.
Through a blend of academic learning and a minimum 45-day work placement, you’ll gain practical expertise in software design, networking, and operational processes. You’ll build a solid foundation for higher education, apprenticeships, or direct entry into the software development industry.
What you will learn
You’ll understand how to design and provide software solutions using the latest software applications, security controls, digital environments, data management, business contexts and legislation. It’s been developed in collaboration with employers, so you can guarantee that you’re learning the latest, most relevant skills.
With an emphasis on using digital evidence to solve problems, you’ll learn the core knowledge that underpins software and product design and develop specific skills that are essential in the digital industry.
You'll learn to apply procedures and controls to maintain the digital security of an organisation and its data and understand both physical and virtual infrastructure.
With a work placement of at least 45 days, you’ll work on live projects in a workplace and see how the digital side of business really works.
You’ll get a unique opportunity to work on live projects tailored to your chosen career path and learn the in-demand and up-to-date skills for a successful career in the digital industry.

Age Criteria: Under 19
Gloucestershire College welcome any other/combinations of relevant qualifications that are comparable and/or equivalent to the typical course entry requirements.
Applicants that do not have recognised qualifications may still meet course entry requirements through alternative methods of assessment at the College’s discretion.
