Course Overview

Part Time
Certificate

Participation in leisure classes provides far more than the opportunity to learn new skills but also numerous benefits to our mental health and wellbeing. Classes are known to lower stress levels, improve confidence, increase social integration, contribute to personal growth and lifelong learning to name just a few advantages.

Do you love being creative then you’ll love this new short 5 week course designed and delivered by Ally Goff.

These practical classes are designed to encourage you to work towards creative projects using a variety of craft materials such as paints, fabrics, paper, clay and embellishments. You will work independently and follow your interests within the session. Some planned activities will include stamping, stencilling, painting, printing, layering, applique and collaging. You will work with a range of artistic media to explore colour, texture and design, to create individual artworks.

These informal learning opportunities will be delivered in a relaxed and friendly environment by tutors empathetic to ALDD needs. Your tutor will regularly review your activities and offer you support and guidance.

All materials and resources will be provided but you may like to bring along a drink and small snack. We recommend you don’t wear your best clothes or bring along an apron as some activities might be messy.

Classes will be held at The Folk at Gloucester in the EdShed, which can be accessed via Quay Street, GL1 2PG. Limited parking is available onsite but there is a drop off zone and parking available nearby.

  • This course is aimed at adults (age 19 as at the start of the academic year) with mild physical or learning disabilities. Care support is not available through the college but learners may be supported by their carers, who will be expected to participate in the activities.

Student Stories

Louis Adams

The volunteering course really helped me to build my confidence; working on the Supported Internship with the support of the Employment Mentors helped me to prepare a CV. I was thoroughly supported in the work place which helped me secure a job there. It’s nice to earn and have my own money, I am very proud of myself”
