This qualification covers a range of complex accounting tasks. You will learn and master financial processes, including accounting principles and concepts, advanced bookkeeping, final accounts, VAT issues in business, management accounting costing techniques and ethical practices for accountants. You will also gain software skills through spreadsheet training for accounting.

You will undertake five computer based assessments.
In addition to attending college weekly, students will be expected to undertake between 4-6 hours additional study out of college.
Please note the mandatory AAT registration fees (approx. £235) and the cost of text books (approx. £122) are in addition to the tuition fees. Your exam assessment fee is included within the tuition fee but additional re-sits will be charged at the rate of £63 per assessment. If you are entitled to a tuition fee waiver you can apply to our Learner Support Fund to cover these costs.
Your tutor will advise you what book(s) are required prior to your first day.
This qualification is aimed at those aged 19 (as at 31st August of the academic year) or above who enjoy working with figures and are literate and numerate.
Applicants will require a GCSE grade C/4 or above in Maths and English, an AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting or relevant industry experience.
If you have previous accountancy or finance experience you may wish to complete an online skill check at www.aatskillcheck.org/ to enable you to decide whether to start at Level 2 or Level 3.
All applicants will be required to complete a short assessment form to ensure the correct level of study.
You may be entitled to access this course for free if you are in receipt of certain benefits or on a low wage. If you receive a tuition fee waiver you will be able to apply to our Learner Support Fund to cover the additional registration fee, books and any required assessment re-sits.
Successful completion will allow students to progress to the AAT Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting course. Once students have completed their AAT studies they may be eligible for exemptions from the foundation stage examinations of the UK Chartered accountancy bodies (CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA, ICAEW) or they may wish to study for a Foundation Degree in Business or for a Full Degree.
