This course is a very fast paced course and ideal for those, wanting a fast career change and wish to enter the creative world of hairdressing. This course will introduce you to a range of creative hairdressing techniques.

As this is a fast paced and intensive course, alongside these subjects delivered in college, students will need to be able to commit themselves to an additional 4-5 hours per week undertaking:
You may also be asked to participate voluntarily in charity, community and voluntary events often related to Hair and Beauty. This could be things such as fashion shows etc.
Throughout your training programme you will be required to receive and carry out treatments on your peers to develop your skills and take paying clients to gain the widest possible range of experiences and employability skills.
How will I be assessed?
Quality sampling takes place by the awarding body. This may be in the first term or towards the end of the Academic year. If you are selected you would need to ensure that your portfolio is submitted and you may need to attend a practical EQA sampling session to gain your qualification.
As in a professional salon, students will be expected to give our clients the highest possible customer care and portray a professional image; you'll be required to wear a salon uniform whilst in the salons.
There are supplementary costs for material, books, course trips and visits. Financial assistance may be available. Please enquire at Student Services.
Class times:
Intensive: 20x week duration September – February or February – June
Typically, 3x days per week between 9:30am-4pm*
Part Time: 33x week duration September – June
Typically, 2x evenings per week 6-9pm*

Uniform and Kit:
We strongly recommend that you do not purchase kit until you have been officially enrolled and received confirmation of this, all enrolments are subject to the conditions of your offer previously communicated to you.

You must be aged over 19 at the start of the academic year.
Entry to the course is subject to satisfactory completion of an online Professional Course Assessment that will be sent to you following an application. You will need to demonstrate a good standard of English language, relevant experience, industry knowledge and ability to work at the required level for this course.

Employment prospects in this industry are diverse and exciting, with opportunities to work in high street salons, hotels and spas, or perhaps on cruise ships travelling the world. You may even like to set up your own business.
As a student, you’ll have the chance to use industry-standard facilities in our on-site salons at the Cheltenham, Gloucester and Forest of Dean campuses.
