Take your passion for sports to the next level. This course is ideal if you want to dive deeper into the sports industry and develop practical skills that will set you apart from the competition.
With a focus on fitness, coaching, and outdoor activities, you’ll gain hands-on experience in planning and leading sports events. You can look forward to an action-packed year filled with adventurous activities and trips, and opportunities to shine in leadership roles. Afterwards you’ll be ready to take your learning further with a Level 3 qualification.
What you’ll learn
This course is designed to give you a comprehensive understanding of the sports industry, with a focus on fitness and coaching.
You’ll be expected to keep fit with a range of physical activities and take part in a 6-week module of adventurous outdoor activities. You can also test your leadership skills through organising a primary school sports event.

Assessment
Assessment will be coursework based, and include a combination of assignments, presentations and practical sessions.
Anything else?
At Gloucestershire College we want students to develop their English and Maths skills so that they achieve their learning goals and future career aims. For this reason, all full-time students (16-18) who have not achieved grade 4 or above English language or maths GCSE will study these subjects as part of their course.
You’ll also take part in continual professional development (CPD) and complete the college’s Which Three Skills programme to develop skills like communication, teamwork, resilience and more.
Gloucestershire College welcome any other/combinations of relevant qualifications that are comparable and/or equivalent to the typical course entry requirements.
For 19+ applicants that do not have recognised qualifications may still meet course entry requirements through alternative methods of assessment at the College’s discretion.

You will have the opportunity to develop your skills in a range of practical and theory modules, learning from industry experts.
Uniformed Public Services
GC offers a wide range of real emergency service and armed forces experiences as part of the uniformed public services course. This has led to many former students going on to join the emergency services (Police, Fire and Ambulance Service) and the armed forces (Army, RAF or the Royal Navy) upon successful completion of their course.
