Gloucestershire College is thrilled to have won Training Provider of the Year at the GloucestershireLive Apprenticeship Awards for the second year running. The awards celebrate Gloucestershire’s best and brightest apprentices, as well as the organisations that enable their success. The ceremony that took place in Kingsholm Stadium on 13 October, highlighted the depth of talent currently within apprenticeship programmes across the county.

Julie Tegg, Director of Employer Training & Apprenticeships at GC commented: “This award is very important to us and we are delighted to have received such outstanding recognition for the second year running. Our Employer Training & Apprenticeships team work extremely hard to deliver the best possible experience to employers and apprentices.

"Because of our reputation as a go-to apprenticeship service provider and strong industry connections in Gloucestershire, we are able to offer a comprehensive range of apprenticeship programmes for a variety of industries; all these programmes cater to immediate skills needs of local businesses as well as to the county’s long-term economic development.

“For example, as Cheltenham is rapidly advancing its tech ecosystem, Gloucestershire College is supporting this growth by offering apprenticeships in Software, Infrastructure, Cyber Security and Network Engineering that aim to create a new generation of skilled tech talent for local companies and beyond. We always encourage businesses to take full advantage of apprenticeships and the amazing opportunities they present to employers and employees alike.”

Four of GC’s apprentices were also shortlisted as finalists; and one of them, Amy Harker, GC Digital Marketing apprentice at 71a, won the Outstanding Apprentice of the Year in the Tech, Digital and Creative sector category.

Edward Newman, CEO of 71a said “I am exceptionally proud of Amy Harker, our apprentice who won Gloucestershire Live's Outstanding Apprentice of the Year (technology, digital and creative sector). Amy has been absolutely flying these past few months, so we're not in the least bit surprised she's won this. Very well deserved - the whole team are delighted for her. Amy's hard work, ability to adapt, quick learning and positive attitude are all characteristics that have landed her this award.”
