Employer Training and Apprenticeships
We caught up with Tyler, a business administrator apprentice at Hub8 to find out more about why he wanted to do an apprenticeship and his career ambitions for the future.
Our Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship is a great stepping-stone into the exciting world of business. The programme equips you with the essential knowledge of working in the office, boosts your confidence and develops important hard and soft skills to set you off for a successful career in business. We spoke to Tyler, a business administrator apprentice at Hub8.
What made you choose to do an apprenticeship?
“I chose to do an apprenticeship because University was not something I was enthusiastic to do. I always liked the idea of an apprenticeship as it meant I could learn on the job, whist of course earning which is an added benefit. Additionally, this meant that I could be gaining industry skills and experience.”
What tasks do you carry out in your apprenticeship?
“My main day-to-day role is mainly based around the delivery of our white-label management software that we use. I work closely with our head of operations and innovations, to help the business improve in those areas and make the customer experience that bit greater. I also assist our finance manager with queries around invoices but I am not limited to what I can do.”
What is the best part about being an apprentice?
“The best thing about my apprenticeship is working closely with our members every day. Further to this, I enjoy my day-to-day role as there is often something new and engaging to do and learn on the job.”
How has your line manager in the workplace and assessor at Gloucestershire College supported you?
“They’ve helped me to settle in and find my feet and allowed me to take on responsibilities and grow.”
What are your career ambitions for after you finish your apprenticeship?
"I would like to stay with the company and develop within my role even further. If this is not to be the case, I would like to go into project management of some kind."
Would you recommend doing an apprenticeship in your industry? And Why?
"I would recommend doing an apprenticeship in my industry around Cyber and Tech. More so a co-working environment. This is because you get the benefit of having an array of organisations and people. This does not limit my experiences with different companies and people. We have a range of start-ups. SMEs, and global giants."
