Summer is finally here! Now the weather is warming and exams have finished, you may be wondering how to make the most of your time off. Well look no further as we’ve compiled 10 bucket list ideas for students to do in summer before returning to college.

1. Attend a festival

Whether you’re attending a huge festival or one closer to home, festivals are a fun way for you and some friends to get together and make memories. Local festivals can be low in cost or even free, so you don’t have to splash out on expensive tickets.

2. Start a new hobby

Learn something new this summer! Perhaps there is a skill you have always wanted to perfect or a hobby you want to devote more time too. Still unsure of what to master? You could learn a new language, play a new sport or sign up to a leisure course at GC.

3. Travel somewhere new

You don’t need a car to go somewhere new. Take a bus or coach and start your adventure to a place you’ve always wanted to go.

4. Visit the beach

Nothing says summer like going to the beach. Ice cream, sandcastles and swimming is all you need to make this summer special with friends. Extra points if an angry seagull steals your ice cream!

5. Relax

After a long year of hard work, it is important to rejuvenate and unwind. While this may not seem like the most exciting part of your student bucket list, it will ultimately prepare you for another year of hard work and success.

6. Volunteer

Give back to a charity or a cause you care about by volunteering. It can be a rewarding opportunity to meet new people and gain a new skill while collectively helping a good cause. Visit the Government Volunteering website to get started.

7. Record your memories

Get your cameras out! Photos and videos are a great way to remember the summer you’re having and create a compilation for you and your friends to enjoy. Don’t forget to upload them to TikTok to look back on in years to come.

8. Gain work experience

Open your career perspectives and gain work experience in a sector or industry you are passionate in. Not only will you get insights of the job you potentially want to pursue but you'll become more confident in a working environment.

9. Make a summer playlist

Get your favourite tunes on and invite some friends round to enjoy the sun. Not sure what songs to add to your playlist? Keep an eye out on our socials to see our music choices for summer.

10. Prepare for a new year at college

Start the new academic year right and get your necessary stationary, bags and other equipment you need for September as early as possible. You’ll thank yourself later and it will give yourself more time to spend ticking off your summer bucket list!

Spending your time with a balance of exciting adventures, learning new skills and preparing for the return to college will make your summer stand out. Which points will you be adding to your summer bucket list?
