Why study HE at GC? Hear from our graduating students
Latest News
From staying close to home to enjoying smaller classes, there are loads of reasons that students choose to study university level courses at GC. But don’t just take our word for it, some of our HE students have rounded up why they chose to study with us.
Bradley Collins – BSc (Hons) Information Technology
"I started my whole education journey after secondary school with GC and I saw it was just a great pathway to continue onwards. I didn't see the need to deviate from it. I had everything I needed to carry on and continue my education.
"My lecturers were always great, and they were so helpful with everything when it came to the course, especially with career opportunities and advice for what we should look into and what we should avoid when it comes to finding our place in the workplace. They give you such good advice for where you could go from what you're studying. They set you up with the right pathways and they give you all the support you need.
"There was only a small group of us, so it was great. I think there was about 10 of us in total. But we all really bonded together in our class, and we were all able to just kind of push each other to do our best."
"It was quite daunting thinking of going and moving away from home to go and study for university. Having something closer to home that I could get to and from easier and still stay locally was a great opportunity for me and it was something I thought was much better than travelling away hours away from home and trying to find my place in a completely different environment."
Caitlin Peates – BSc (Hons) Information Technology
"It was easier for me, instead of doing the whole relocation to somewhere else. For work purposes, family life, it was just easier to do the two days a week up at Cheltenham and I just found it simpler to do that.
"I'd recommend GC for the flexibility that it offers, the different types of units that you can complete and the variety in the course. It just comes together, and you get a degree and to celebrate with a graduation at the end of it."
Thomas Allen – Electrical and Electronic Engineering HNC
"I had a career change. I was a bricklayer and plasterer, but I now work at GE Aerospace. I took an apprenticeship for three years, and it was a natural progression to HNC. It allowed me to move up through the ranks. If I wanted to move up through the career ladder it meant I had to study more. It ignited a desire in me to carry on, to be honest.
"I chose GC because I wanted to challenge myself a little bit more. I just wanted to change. I wanted to step out of the comfort zone and into a role with more responsibility. That was the plan. I’d do it again and again and again and again. I got a promotion, and I feel glad I made that decision!"
